ABOUT US

About the Foundation

The mission of True Price Foundation is that every product has a true price, whereby basic products such as food remain or become affordable for everyone. This means that products and value chains are regenerative and in line with human rights; costs for recovery, compensation and prevention of social costs are discounted in product prices. We therefore strive for transparency about and (voluntary) payment of true prices. Additionally, we strive to change the laws and regulations that determine the outcomes of the market, such as tax, purchasing, accounting and trade regulations.
The Foundation has three core activities: to develop and maintain the True Price Standard and ensure it gains authority for worldwide adoption, to activate governments, civil society organisations, trade unions, knowledge institutions and companies for the adoption of true prices, through the Global True Price Partnership and to mobilise the demand for true prices among consumers through the True Price Movement.

ABOUT TRUE PRICING

As the world becomes more aware of the need for sustainable change to save ourselves and our planet, the need for transformation of the food system is also increasing. True pricing is a growing theme on the national and international level among companies, governments, consumers and scientists, as a solution towards a sustainable food system.

WHAT IS TRUE PRICING

The true price is the market price plus the social and environmental costs of a product. True pricing is an effective instrument to make products more sustainable, by structurally decreasing social and environmental damage in the value chain. We aim to do so by showing and improving the true price of products. The objective of true pricing is not to make products more expensive, but to make them more sustainable. True pricing adheres to universal rights (e.g. labor and environmental rights) and the responsibilities to respect those rights

WHY TRUE PRICING
