Child Labour

2025

The Child Labour – Social and Human Capital methodology module contains the key methodological aspects to measure and value the social cost of child labour in products and their value chains, using a rights-based approach. This new True Price module helps address a critical gap by offering a clear method to estimate how significant this hidden cost is in comparison to product prices. While no monetary value can truly capture the harm caused by child labour, this approach makes its social costs visible, highlighting existing, unmet responsibilities in the global market and reinforcing the duty to prevent and remediate rights violations.

This impact-specific module is complemented by other Social and Human Capital modules (Living Income and Occupational Health and Safety) as well as six Natural Capital modules.

All of these modules methodologically follow the Valuation Framework for True Pricing, which outlines the theoretical foundations and valuation principles, and the True Pricing Assessment Method, which provides modelling guidance and requirements for scoping, data, and reporting.

Together, these documents support consistent and credible true pricing assessments of products across sectors.
